Abstract

Amangkurat 1 is situated in Tegal Regency, specifically in the village of Pesarean, Tegal Arum, known for its fragrant land which distinguishes the Tomb of Amangkurat 1. Amangkurat 1 is the burial site and pilgrimage place of Raden Mas Sayidin, the fourth king of Mataram. Regrettably, many residents of Tegal Regency are unaware of who Amangkurat 1 was and why he was buried in Pesarean village. Due to limited historical education resources about Amangkurat 1, he remains relatively unknown to the public. Therefore, the author has taken the initiative to develop an educational medium in the form of an illustrated book, formatted for print, to serve as an informative tool regarding the history of the Tomb of Amangkurat 1 in Tegal Regency. Based on these considerations, an illustrated book is deemed suitable for conveying information about Amangkurat 1 to elementary school students in Tegal Regency. The concept of designing an illustrated book aims to provide an engaging reading experience for the audience, ensuring that young learners do not find studying history tedious. Through this illustrated book, it is hoped that the people of Tegal Regency will gain a better understanding of and appreciation for the historical narrative of their village. The outcome of this endeavor will be the Illustrated Print Book detailing the Origin of the Tomb of Amangkurat 1, which will be distributed through the Department of Education and Culture. Keywords: Illustrated Book, Amangkurat 1, History, Legend, Mataram Kings.
