Abstract

The heart is one of the most important organs in the body and has a difficult job. There are two ways to measure heart health, namely heart rate and oxygen saturation. The MAX30100 sensor can be used to measure heart rate. The aim of this research is to compare the two methods to determine the level of accuracy of measuring heart rate in blood. In this research, we compare the reflectance sensor MAX30100 and transmittance pulse oximeter methods to determine their characteristics, compare the measurement results with measuring instruments that use these methods and analyze the measurement results. Apart from that, it was also compared with the Omron sphygmomanometer to further clarify which method is the most accurate in measuring heart rate. The results of the research that has been carried out show that the best method to use is transmittance because it has a stable value compared to reflectance. The transmittance value for normal conditions is between 73-97 bpm and after exercise it is 107-142 bpm, while the reflectance value for normal conditions is 71-95 bpm and after exercise it is 112- 139 bpm. The accuracy produced by the reflectance method tends to be below transmittance because under normal conditions the reflectance method gets an accuracy of 94% and that is still below the standard which should be 95%, while reflectance gets an accuracy of 98%. Keywords: Heart rate, MAX30100 sensor, transmittance and reflectance.
