Abstract

Discussing history often makes the general public, especially the younger generation, feel bored, sleepy and bored. One of the districts that has various historical values is Banyumas Regency, Central Java, where the characteristics, culture and language of the people of Banyumas are very distinctive, different from other regions. Sumur Mas is a well that is considered sacred by the people of Banyumas. However, for now not much is known about the history of Sumur Mas because with the rapid development of technology, many young people do not know the history of the origins that are influential in Banyumas. The younger generation rarely knows history because of their approach to interactive digital media, one of which is comics. Therefore, a graphic novel comic is used as an effective medium to convey information to the younger generation. The author aims to design a graphic novel comic about the history of the establishment of Sumur Mas which is educational and informative in the form of a narrative story. To encourage the interest of the younger generation, especially among the people of the Kota Lama Banyumas in the history of Sumur Mas, as well as provide educational knowledge about history as well as a means of preserving the historical culture of the Kota Lama Banyumas. The comic graphic novel entitled "The History of Sumur Mas: The Story of the Founding of Banyumas Regency" is a form of design to convey the history of the formation of Sumur Mas aimed at the younger generation aged 12-25 years. The results obtained from this graphic novel comic are for the younger generation to feel proud and continue to care for the historical culture that their ancestors fought for.
