Abstract

This research applies Rapid Application Development method for designing document information system. One of the problems that occur is the accumulation of data reports lecturer workload (BKD) on the bookcase. The number of documents will make the process of filing and searching documents takes a long time. This research performs the transfer of data from hardcopy format to digital format softcopy in the form of file type which have been uploaded to system. The uploaded document is accessible, searchable, and displayed or distributed by the system user. The Rapid Application Development (RAD) method was used in this study for the planning of the information system before it was built. The development process in RAD is bussiness modeling, data modeling, process modeling, application generation, testing adn turnover. RAD proves that in the process of developing this system can be completed quickly within a period of three to four months. In addition, by involving the user on the design process led to the needs of users can be met well and automatically user satisfaction as system users are increasing. The results of this study indicate the functional level of the information system made is good enough, as evidenced by the average beta test results 82% chose good criteria and alpha 13 test results from 14 use cases successfully done. So, it can be concluded that, with the existence of this document management information system, this system can assist students and lecturers in distributing lecture materials, help archiving hardcopy data so that it can be more structured, and easier for students and lecturers to access other data.. Keyword : documents, RAD, Digital Softcopy
