Abstract

Lamp is a primary need that can not be separated from human life. In the absence of lights as a illumination, the world will be completely dark. The lights are also an integral part of highway. The lack of monitoring system of street lighting encourage the technology to build a system that capable to turn on the lights automatically and monitoring in realtime. Usually monitoring of the lights is done manually and periodically in an uncertain time. The lights do not work as what we expected is the most frequently problem that arise, causing the road to be dark which would be harmful for people who passes the highway. It can be overcome with the lights on every street corner. The system is created utilizing the micro-controller model Arduino Uno. The system is using sensor Light Dependent Resistor (LDR) as a trigger system and will work automatically. Not only use the main lights, this system also uses a backup lights. whenever the main lights do not work it will be replaced temporarily by the backup lights and the system will send an Short Message Service (SMS) notification to the operator. Based on the test results, the sensor works on twilight and dark conditions with the value of voltage about ≤ 1.85 volts with an average value of ADC ≤ 379 binary as a trigger for the arduino to activate the relay. Relay will be active when the relay driver circuit gets voltage at the basis (VBE) with an average value is 0.79 volts and the average voltage of relay is 11.88 volts.
