Abstract

The rapid development of technology has greatly influenced the field of education, currently education can be done using online learning methods, one of these technologies is the Learning Management System (LMS). LMS is a technology that can help students access courses, complete UTS and UAS online. LMS is also owned by the Telkom Purwokerto Institute of Technology, the Telkom Institute of Technology (ITTP) is one of the universities in Central Java. The problem faced by ITTP in the LMS is that the user interface is not yet good. This makes researchers want to improve the user interface so that students can use it more comfortably and have no difficulty when operating it. The aim of this research is to improve the appearance of the LMS and provide recommendations for a new LMS appearance for ITTP. The focus of this research is to redesign the user interface using the design thought method. Design Thinking has 5 stages including empathize, Define, Ideate, Prototype and Test. The results of this research are design recommendations for the ITTP LMS user interface. The results of this research prove that the new design has a significant improvement of 84% from previously only 64%, with the A/B testing method. Get a result of 0.001 for the validity test, which means all the data is found to be valid, and a value of > 0.90 for Cronbach's Alpha if Item Deleted, which means the reliability value is very high.
