Abstract

Sarangan lake is one of the attractions with natural beauty is still beautiful in the village of Sarangan Magetan Regency East Java. In addition to its natural beauty there is also the origin of the folklore of the formation of Sarangan lake. However, there are still many who do not know the origin of the folklore of the origin of the Legend of Telaga Sarangan, especially children, they only know its natural beauty without knowing the story behind Sarangan lake which should be preserved as a cultural asset. Lack of knowledge of folklore to children due to lack of media delivery they only know through oral. So an illustrated book is made Legend of Sarangan lake as an effort to preserve folklore culture in the style of digital cartoon illustrations to attract children's reading interest and use earth tone colors. This research was conducted using a qualitative method of descriptive analysis and data collection was carried out by means of observation, interviews, documentation, and literature studies.
