Abstract

Wood carving art in Bali is the result of the exceptional talents of native Balinese woodcarvers who have showcased their remarkable skills for several decades. These artisans create high-quality works of art with a spiritual philosophy. One of the prominent small and medium-sized enterprises (UKM) in the field of wood carving in Bali is Begeh Ukir, located in Kuwum Village, Tabanan, Bali, which specializes in the art of Sanggah carving. In the context of UKM Begeh Ukir, knowledge of Balinese wood carving is a valuable asset for the artists. However, this knowledge is often scattered, not systematically documented, or difficult to access. To address these challenges and better manage the human resources of UKM Begeh Ukir, the utilization of a Knowledge Management System is essential. This research applies the Knowledge Management Life Cycle method using the SECI model. The outcome is an AI-based website application for the Knowledge Management System, which facilitates access to crucial knowledge necessary for creating high-quality artworks. This research has the potential to make a positive contribution to the development of the human resources of UKM Begeh Ukir and can serve as a model for other small and medium-sized enterprises in leveraging knowledge as a strategic asset. With the implementation of the Knowledge Management System, UKM Begeh Ukir can progress and succeed in creating inspiring and valuable wood carving art pieces.
