Abstract
ABSTRACT Satellite communications at this time provides huge capacity both for the phone conversation or for transmission of data, namely the discovery of technology digital signal 3 (DS3). DS3 technology using air as the medium of propagation of the signal, then the weather and climate factors greatly affect the performance of satellite communications links. So the weather changes that result in changes to the parameters of the signal level Eb/No is studied and analyzed as a guide to anticipate disruptions result of perubaan weather. Then conducted research in the calculation of link budget and field observations, the standardization of the Eb/No threshold on the modulation of 8PSK in device Comtech CDM-750 7,4 dB. The link is also on the research budget is calculated using the formula IT amounted to 7,61 dB, and calculated using satmaster application also by 8,71 dB. According to data from BMKG average intensity of precipitation in July at the site of the Ambon of 234,9 mm/h, which causes a decrease in the signal level reaches 1,8 dB of parameters when the clear sky of 9,4 dB. From these data the optimization link DS3 is very important, that is not the case the decrease in the level of the received signal thus causing disconnection of communication due to the onset of monsoon in accordance with climatic conditions in the region of Indonesia.
