Abstract
The growing demand for high-speed internet is driving new access technologies that make it possible to experience true broadband. This makes telecom operators seriously consider launching high-volume fiber-optic-based access networks. To enable faster connections, fiber optics are getting closer and closer to the customer. Then FTTH (Fiber To The Home) appears the most suitable choice for long-term goals because it will be easier to increase bandwidth in the future if the client is fully served by fiber optics. FTTH is a solution for providing broadband Services. GPON (Gigabit Passive Optical Network) is a passive fiber optic network technology. This GPON technology has advantages when compared to other passive optical fiber technologies, including GPON saves the use of optical fiber, has reliable protection, and also has a bitrate of up to the gigabit order. In addition, GPON technology supports tripleplay applications over broadband networks because of the ability to transfer with high bandwidth and long distances (about 20 to 30 km).
