Abstract

LoRaWAN (Long Range Wide Area Network) is a Low Power Wide Area Network (LPWAN) technology built on LoRa modulation. This technology allows devices to communicate wirelessly over long distances (on the order of 5-15 km, depending on the propagation environment) at low data rates. LoRa uses Chirp Spread Spectrum (CSS) and Forward Error Correction (FEC) modulation to reduce interference. One of the configuration parameters in LoRa is the Spreading Factor (SF) with a value between SF7 to SF12. The smaller the Spreading Factor (SF), the effect on the distance and percentage of data sent. The research method is a Long Range modulation design using a frequency of 923 MHz with a Line of Sight propagation model (without obstacles). The results of this study concluded that the results of changes in the Spreading Factor (SF) parameter had an effect on the data transmission carried out. The greater the SF parameter used, the better the success rate of Packet Delivery Ratio (PDR). While changes in SF parameters have the opposite effect on the value of the Received Signal Strength Indicator (RSSI) and the value of the Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR). The smaller the SF parameter used, the greater the RSSI and SNR values. The SF12 parameter is the best SF parameter with a PDR of 100%. The SF7 parameter is the best SF parameter with an RSSI of -98.14 dBm. The SF7 parameter is the best SF parameter with an SNR of 9.85 dB. Keywords: LoRa, Spreading Factor, Line of Sight
