Abstract

Communication technology is one of the infrastructures that must exist in an area so that there is a need for a system that is fast, free without obstacles and can be used even in remote areas. Along with the times and technology, provider companies are competing to do the work, such as adding new BTS in uncovered areas, swapping devices on a BTS. Swap is a process of replacing an old device with a new one from the same or a different vendor. Cellular is generally referred to as a mobile communication system. It can be said to be a mobile communication system because users can move within a specified radius depending on the signal from the BTS. BTS (Base Transceiver Station) consists of three parts, namely tower, shelter / cabinet and cables. Tower is a container / pole which usually contains supporting devices such as sectoral antennas or MW, RRU (Remote Radio Unit) and other components. Sectoral antenna is an antenna that has a much higher gain compared to omnidirectional antennas around 10-19 dBi with a coverage area of up to 6-8 kilometers. Shelter / cabinet is a place that is shaped like a refrigerator cabinet itself which has a function as a protection and storage device - transmission and power devices for a BTS. For cables used, namely power cables and cables for signal transmission media on cables for transmission media, this is divided into two types, namely feeder cables and fiber optic cables. The coverage area is an important factor in the continuity of communication between users and the mobile station. Therefore, to get maximum coverage of the antenna, a very good link budget planning is needed in order to minimize the loss in signal transmission to the receiver. Keywords: Provider, BTS (Base Transceiver Station), Swap, sectoral antenna, RRU (Remote Radio Unit), Shelter / cabinet, Cable, Coverage, Link Budget.
