Abstract
In the telecommunications industry, network infrastructure is a very important role in the process of providing telecommunications services to customers. The need for quality broadband capacity and speed of communication, has brought fundamental changes in telecommunications infrastructure that must be addressed by each operator by building backbone transmission media as part of a reliable system. Therefore, now fiber optic technology has been widely used to support these needs. But it cannot be denied that the advantages of optical fiber compared to other transmission media, do not rule out the possibility to avoid the occurrence of trouble in the transmission process. Disorders that often occur in the process of optical fiber transmission include the loss of light energy in the optical fiber and the presence of light that is deflected in the wrong direction. Checking the interference using a measuring instrument needs to be done to be able to find out and analyze the cause of the disturbance. The attenuation value obtained when the street vendor is -44.46 dBm and the disturbance point is 4.0582 km. In conclusion, the resulting attenuation value indicates that the fiber optic cable has broken the cable because the attenuation value is over to -40.0 dBm. Keywords: Optical Fiber, Attenuation
