Abstract
Routing protocol is the protocol that is responsible for determining how routers communicate with each other and forward packets through the optimal path from source to destination. However, on networks with a wide scope usually use several different routing protocols. Routing protocols are different, one of them is RIP (Routing Information Protocol) version 2 and EIGRP (Enhanced Interior Gateway Routing Protocol). RIPv2 uses the hop count as a routing metric and applies the limit to the maximum hop allowed in the network that is equal to 15. EIGRP uses bandwidth and delay as routing metrics to determine the best path to the destination network address. In order for the two routing protocols to be connected it needs a redistribution method to connect the routing protocol that has been used before it can be maintained in a network. This study analyzes the performance of the RIPv2 routing protocol with EIGRP using the redistribution method scenario no background traffic and background traffic. File sharing and streaming video tested services. From the test results obtained the average results of throughput, delay and packet loss file sharing no background traffic 87.046 Mbps, 0.0735 ms, 0% while the background traffic is 67.969 Mbps, 0.1050 ms, 12.333%. Then the video streaming service is no background traffic and background traffic 7.736 Mbps, 0.972 ms, and 0%. Based on the standardization of TIPHON (Telecomunication and Internet Protocol Harmonization Over Network) the results of testing file sharing service scenarios and video streaming on delay parameters are very good categories, while packet loss parameters include good categories. Keywords: Routing protocol, Distance vector, RIP, EIGRP, Redistribution.
