Abstract

ABSTRACT The telecommunications system at this time has been developing rapidly and to be able to meet the needs of multimedia services requires a communication system technology that can deliver data at high speed. Therefore created a communication system technology that combines wireless communication with wired communication. This technology superimposes radio frequencies into optical fiber waves called Radio over Fiber. In this final project, this RoF communication system uses DWAD (Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing) technology based on OADM (Optical Add Drop Multiplexer) which is simulated using Optisystem. An RF radio signal of 2.5 GHz is superimposed into the fiber optic light spectrum. Fiber optic communication system uses single mode optical fiber combined with DWDM technology using eight wavelengths with 50 GHz channel spacing, namely 1554.94 nm, 1554.54 nm, 1554.13 nm, 1553.73 nm, 1553.33 nm, 1552 .93 nm, 1552.52 nm, 1552.12 nm and 1000 Mbps data rates. OADM devices are placed respectively at a distance of 30 km and 60 km with different wavelengths. The parameters considered in this study are Bit Error Rate (BER) values below 10-9, a minimum Q Factor value of 6 and also the lowest power reception level is above the receiver sensitivity of -27 dBm. At the lowest power 0 dBm the highest BER value obtained was 6.20 x 10-10 on channel 3 with a wavelength of 1554.13 nm still below the maximum BER value and the lowest BER value obtained was 2.93 x 10-152 on the channel 2 with a wavelength of 1554.54 nm, the lowest Q Factor value obtained was 6.07148 on channel 3 with a wavelength of 1554.13 nm still above the minimum limit and the highest Q Factor value obtained was 26.2574 on channel 2 with a wavelength of 1554 , 54 nm, the lowest sensitivity value obtained is -21,242 dBm which is still above the minimum sensitivity value of the receiver and the highest sensitivity value obtained is 21,242 on channel 8 with a wavelength of 1552.12 nm. The variation in power changes the greater the power the better the results. In the variation of channel spacing changes will change the channel and affect the results, the narrower the channel spacing, the better the results obtained. Changes to the channel in the add and drop process on OADM can affect the results on BER and Q Factor.
