Abstract
Indonesia is a tropical country with two seasons: the rainy and dry seasons. The rainy season usually lasts for six months from October to March which can increase the risk of flooding in some areas and potentially cause substantial losses to the community. This research aims to develop a system that can detect water levels early and provide warnings to users through buzzers and wireless data transmission to the telegram platform with the Esp8266 microcontroller. Testing was carried out by conducting three experiments on HC-SR04 sensors placed at different points from upstream to downstream areas. The accuracy test results show that the HC-SR04 sensor has a high level of accuracy in measuring water levels, although there are some variations in the measurement results at different points with an average sensor accuracy value of 95.26% with an average error of 4.74% indicating that this sensor is quite accurate. This research can make an important contribution to the development of flood detection technology that can be used for natural disaster risk mitigation in various regions.
