Abstract

Technology development this time turned into a vital necessity for human life. Technological developments have spread to various aspects of life, such as aspects of communication and information. Along with the development of technology, websites are also growing rapidly. Website development is put to good use by individual individuals or institutional units. One of the institutions that take advantage of website development is educational institutions, one of which is SMA Negeri 1 Purwokerto, which uses the website as a medium for disseminating academic information. However, in its use, the website is still not optimal and has never been evaluated for usability before and the interface of the website needs to improve its self to make it more attractive. In this study, System Usability Scale (SUS) method will be used for usability testing with the aim of measuring the ease of use of the website by users and redesigning the interface of the website using the User Centered Design (UCD) method. The output of the study are usability value of the SMA Negeri 1 Purwokerto website and website display design recommendations. The result of the usability evaluation of SMA Negeri 1 Purwokerto's website is 61.8. Subsequently, a redesign was conducted using the UCD (UserCentered Design) method and through iterative processes to achieve a design that meets user needs. After obtaining the appropriate design, it was re-evaluated using the SUS (System Usability Scale) method, receiving a score of 74.6, which indicates that the website falls within the "acceptable" category in the acceptability ranges. In the grade scale, it is categorized as "C," and in the adjective rating, it received a "good" score.
