Abstract

The purpose of this study was to produce an application capable of identifying diseases in white snapper. This is done because the white snapper is one of the largest commodities in Batam Island. This fish has a lot of enthusiasts both from inside and outside the island of Batam. Many types of diseases can attack white snapper, although only one infected fish can cause other fish to be infected, resulting in crop failure, so we need a system that can recognize the type of disease so that it can be handled quickly. In this study, an expert system was created using the case-based reasoning (CBR) method because this method is very simple and easy to apply to expert systems, but it has disadvantages in the form of difficulty processing too much data and it will cause inconsistent identification results of disease. The CBR method will use variables in the form of symptoms and diseases taken from the database of the Batam Marine Cultivation Fishery Center. The data used are in the form of symptoms and diseases in white snapper. The result of this expert system is a percentage value of the similarity between cases that have occurred and new cases. From the results of the test results in a new case of white snapper with trematode worms with a value of 0.90 or 90% so that with these results this system can be used as identification of white snapper.
