Abstract
The use of high 5G frequencies makes the system very sensitive to attenuation which results in errors in sending information to the system. This study analyzes the comparison of Bit Error Rate (BER) performance with multipath channels on a 5G system on repetition codes and uncoded with a frequency of 26 GHz and a bandwidth of 200 MHz. This study uses the concept of cyclic prefix-orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (CP-OFDM) in quadrature phase shift keying (QPSK) modulation with coding rate R = {1, 1/3}. In the results of the 5G channel model, which is represented as a representative PDP (power delay profile) it gets 26 paths with a multiple of 5 ns delay, then the scaling method is used to get a modified PDP of 9 paths with a multiple of 16 ns delay. The results of this study indicate that at an average BER of 10-3 , the result of the uncoded BER performance show an SNR value of 25 dB, while the results of the BER repetition codes performance show an SNR value of 15.3 dB. These results represent the uncoded BER performance curve and the BER repetition codes performance curve, which has an SNR range of 9.7 dBand the percentage difference is 38.8 %. The results show that the addition of channel coding repetition codes on the 5G channel can reduce the BER value, so that the performance of the system will be better.
