Abstract

Communication plays a very important role in everyday life. Because in reality as a social human being needs A with others. Computer networks, as one of the most popular communication media, continue to innovate to meet user needs. As is well known, that we can form a computer network so that users can exchange information. Of course, if the computers used are connected (forming a network). We certainly already know a method used to form a computer network, namely the LAN (Local Area Network) method. By using a LAN (Local Area Network) we can connect workstations (computers used by users) so that they can function as communication media. With the growing needs of users, it is now felt that LAN (Local Area Network) technology has several weaknesses, such as inflexible network administration problems, poor network performance, and weakness of the network provided, encouraging experts to develop communication technology, so that development was born. from LAN technology, namely Virtual Local Area Network. Virtual Local Area Network or better known as VLAN is a logical grouping of users. This grouping can work on a function, section, or application paying attention to users in a network. VLAN configuration refers to a logical configuration rather than a physical one.
