Abstract

One part of artificial intelligence that can be built using computer technology is an expert system. This study discusses the application of a combination of forward chaining methods and the certainty factor algorithm, forward chaining functioning to match the symptoms (facts) with the disease (rule) that has been determined and the certainty factor to determine the confidence value of the disease that has been determined. This study discusses health problems, namely liver disease. Liver disease is a disease caused by various factors that damage the liver, such as viruses and alcohol use. Obesity is also associated with liver damage. In this study, the expert system will provide the results of the initial diagnosis and non-pharmacological regarding the liver disease suffered by the user. The data used in this system are 4 types of diseases and 22 symptoms of liver disease. The process of testing this system is carried out in 2 stages, namely blackbox testing and system accuracy testing. Test Blackbox system can work well and the results of the system accuracy test obtained an accuracy of 90% of the 20 manual test data carried out by experts. Keyword : expert system, diagnosis, heart disease, forward chaining, certainty factor
