Abstract

University courses scheduling is an important to do, because the class schedule is a component that determines the activity goes on in a college lecture. In making the course schedule involves many components such as courses, lecturers, rooms, and time teaching. The greater a college scheduling process will be more complicated. This research built a system which are expected to solve the timetable problem at Telkom School of Telematic Purwokerto. The application is able to generate a proper schedule not only for theory classes but also practice classes. It also facilitates lecture’s time slot election. The data of odd semester of 2016/2017 is used as data sample for this research. The system is built to apply genetic algorithms. Genetic algorithm optimization is one method for scheduling problems which have phases include the generation of an initial population, selection, crossover, and mutation. Results from the research showed that genetic algorithm can handle the problem contained in the scheduling as no conflicting schedules subjects, can do the decision is for lecturers teaching time slot, and the system can accommodate the scheduling of regular courses and practice courses.
