Abstract

In the industrial world cannot be separated from the warehousing industry, pallets are one of the important equipment in facilitating the process of transportation and transfer in the warehouse. Pallet is a means of transportation in the form of a hollow box that is used as a base for goods. The existence of pallets really helps the process of transporting and moving warehouses, so many people use pallets in the warehousing industry in Indonesia. PT. Solusi Bangun Indonesia Currently managing 31000 pallets from vendors (Silog), with an average daily damage in September of 150 pcs. This has resulted in the need for pallets in the warehousing industry to increase, automatically the demand for wood used for pallets also increases. Wooden pallets are very fragile, easily damaged by termites, cannot withstand extreme weather and are easily damaged which in the end when a pallet is damaged, it is replaced with a new pallet automatically, thousands of felled tree trunks are used as raw material for making pallets, because wooden pallets have a short life cycle and are no longer used. The use of wooden pallets also increases carbon dioxide emissions due to the large number of trees being cut down and ultimately heat treatment and fumigation, which have serious impacts on the environment. These problems can be minimized by comparing the use of alternative uses of wood pallets into plastic pallets by conducting a feasibility analysis by comparing plastic pallets and wooden pallets by considering the technical aspects of pallets, environmental aspects, and investment feasibility aspects. Which later can be used as a basis for consideration of replacing wooden pallets into plastic pallets for PT.Solusi Bangun Indonesia, by knowing the comparison of technical aspects, environmental aspects between wood pallets and plastic pallets, the Net Present Value (NPV) of plastic pallets is Rp. 47,964,909.063 or NPV> 0 and the Internal of Return (IRR) value of 6.90%.
