Abstract

Communication technology today has developed quite rapidly, not only inconventional technology by using UTP cables. Power Line Carrier (PLC) is acommunication technology that utilizes electrical mesh that connects toacomputer or device as a communication medium. Public street lighting (PJU) as a public facility in the form of lighting lights installed on roads or public places in monitoring is still done manually so that automatic monitoring of lights is needed remotely. To get good network quality on the street light monitoringsystem, quality of service (QoS) techniques are used to manage delays andbit error rates in the flow of packages in the network. The system is designedtohave 2 main devices, namely control devices and light sensors, then there arealso devices used to monitor using a 16x2 LCD display. Overall the systemcanrun well according to the experiments conducted. From the test results it canbeseen that the delay value for the delivery of 10 characters produced cable lengthof 1 - 50 meters is mostly worth 10.92 ms. While when the delivery of 20characters saw a 2-fold increase in delay value comparable to the increase inthe number of characters sent to around 21 ms. Then when the data sent as much as 30 characters delay increased 3 times from the delay that occurredwhen sending 10 characters. The resulting delay is of very little value to be verygood by existing standards. Viewed in the results of the bit error rate (BER) measurement the value of the bit error rate (BER) of 0% on delivery of 10.20and 30 characters. It can be concluded that PLC communication carried out at acable length of 50 meters and the amount of data <30 characters is still runningwell and according to standardization is very good. Keywords : PLC, QoS, bit error rate, delay.
