Abstract

Telkom Institute of Technology Purwokerto (ITTP) is a private university managed by the Telkom Education Foundation and the only institute in Central Java. Universities that focus on the development of information technology-based science create a special attraction for new students who continue their studies at this campus, as evidenced by the increasing number of new students who register every year. As an academic community, of course, new students are expected to know all the information on facilities and infrastructure within the Purwokerto Telkom Institute of Technology campus, especially such as what rooms and facilities are on this campus. To introduce this information to new students, it can be done through various media that are commonly used. However, to add a new experience for users in getting information messages conveyed in introducing the information, technology is needed that can visualize the place of the room. Therefore we need a new alternative media in order to provide an overview of the visualization. The technology that will be applied is 360-degree video and virtual reality. By taking advantage of the advantages of this technology, users do not have to bother moving or going to their original place. By converting the entire campus building with 360- degree video recording into virtual objects, new students can find out a picture of the campus environment by running virtual reality applications using supporting devices, namely google cardboard glasses. The author uses the Multimedia Development Life Cycle (MDLC) method in research to design the system. Keywords: Virtual Reality, Video, Media, Cardboard
