Abstract

The network infrastructure that is almost entirely managed by vendors causes the network to be more complex, so an approach is needed to manage and implement an efficient network for wider network needs. Software defined network (SDN) has the basic concept of separating the control plane and data plane, so that the network can be programmed separately from the data plane. Based on these problems, a study was conducted on comparative analysis of the performance test of the opendaylight and floodlight controllers using the parameters of throughput, jitter, packet loss and delay to determine which controller is superior to the SDN network infrastructure. This study uses mininet as an emulator to design a ring topology, iperf and Wireshark are used to evaluate parameters. This study uses 2 test scenarios. The first test scenario is by adding switches and hosts, while the second scenario is by adding hosts for each experiment. Hosts and switches used vary between 10-150. Based on the test results, the floodlight controller is superior to the opendaylight controller in running simulations on throughput parameters with a minimum value of 199.167 Mbps, delay with a maximum value of 0.6 ms, jitter with a maximum value of 0.0228 ms, and packet loss with a maximum value of 0.0988. %, but in the test scenario of 150 switches & 150 host controller floodlights cannot run the simulation due to workload overload. Keyword: Controller, Opendaylight, Floodlight, Software Defined Network.
