Abstract

BGP routing protocol which functions as the core of the internet network by default does not have a strong security mechanism. There are many cases of BGP routing running on the internet having hijacked its network routes which resulted in the internet network failing or being inaccessible. The implementation of BGP with RPKI will make a network perform filtering so that its presence can make the internet network routed to valid routes and avoid piracy of invalid route information. This study seeks to implement BGP RPKI directly on the bitbox router device in the PT Time Excelindo network using a tree topology. The implementation of BGP RPKI aims to find out various parameters of the running network such as ROA data and VRP that enter the relyng party device, filtering prefix results from BGP RPKI, router device resource usage from BGP RPKI and the influence of network performance before and after using BGP RPKI. . The results of the implementation show that for ROA and VRP data, 101194 and 302802 prefix have been successfully entered into the router, where the value will be entered and connected to the router for the filtering process. The running BGP RPKI network has successfully filtered 3481 of the total 921286 prefixes obtained by the router. Regarding the use of network resources and the performance of the BGP RPKI network itself, it is found that the overall network before implementing BGP RPKI has a slightly better value. This is because the RPKI BGP network has several additional processes besides routing which causes a slight increase in terms of bandwidth used and running resource allocation.
