Abstract
Security and confidentiality of information data on a website is very important because it relates to the identity of a user. To avoid theft and manipulation of data, it is necessary to create a data security system. Cryptography is the study of how to secure information with four basic objectives, namely confidentiality, data authenticity, authentication (validation), and non-repudiation (prevention). The Rijndael algorithm is used to secure the username and password on the website login form so that it is not read by unauthorized parties. The use of the Rijndael algorithm with a block size of 256 bits is expected to be a website security solution. Man In The Middle (MITM) attack is a type of attack where a third party as an attacker takes over communications, a third party can manipulate data without the knowledge of the target (user). The MITM attack in this study uses the MITM attack wireshark tool. Website development using the codeigniter web application which is an open source framework with the PHP programming language. From the test results of attacks on websites without security, sniffing attacks can read all usernames and passwords entered during the login process. While the test results of sniffing attacks on websites using the encryption security of the Rijndael algorithm, sniffing attacks cannot read the original message when the user logs in, the results of the capture using wireshark get an encrypted username and password. From the test results, the throughput, delay, and jitter values from the test using the Rijndael algorithm are greater because they carry out more data transmission processes.
