Abstract

When consumers shop at supermarkets or malls, sometimes there is an error in the price listed on the label with actual price. This makes buyers less comfortable when they are going to pay for their groceries at the cashier because the price predictions estimated by consumers are slightly different from the actual prices. The number of goods purchased must also be considered by consumers. If too many grocery items are purchased, consumers will also find it difficult to carry them using plastic bags. With these problems the authors designed a prototype system for calculating the weight of shopping and total spending using Arduino based on the Internet of Things (IoT). The purpose of making this prototype is that consumers can monitor their shopping weight on the Telegram application and find out shopping information on a LCD 20X4 screen. The tools used to build prototype include Arduino Uno, Barcode Scanner, LCD 20X4, Load Cell sensor, and Wemos D1 R1. In the prototype of the shopping weight counter system, the accuracy of the load cell sensor was tested by weighing 5 products 30 times. The accuracy results obtained from the load cell sensor with a success rate of 99,70% and an error rate of 0,30%. While the prototype of the total shopping counter system was tested by scanning the product barcode 30 times on 5 products. The results of the system performance running well with a success rate of 100%. Keywords : Arduino, Barcode Scanner, LCD 20X4, Load Cell, Wemos D1 R1, Telegram.
