Abstract

Scaling is a method for reading the ionospheric parameters from the ionogram obtained from the ionosonda device. This method refers to the UAG-23A Report which has become a reference for international scaling conventions. To simplify the manual scaling process in plotting the variation of the reflection frequency for one day, a GUI-based Matlab tool was created. The results of scaling using the Matlab GUI tool include the minimum frequency and the critical frequency F2. The radio communication parameters used are fmin and foF2, the data is taken every 15 minutes once a day so as to produce 96 CADI raw data obtained from the CADI ionsonda device above the city of Pontianak. In this study we analyzed the results of plots of daily variation or reflected frequency for frequency management. The results of the study based on the daily variation plot or the reflected frequency showed that on January 1, 2014 on one 6 MHz frequency channel used for communication, the communication time that could be used was 2.30 s.d. 11.15 WIB. If it takes time that can be used for communication is from 00.00 s.d. 15.45 WIB, the working frequency that can be used for communication is at the working frequency of 6 MHz and 5 MHz. Thus, the scaling of fmin and foF2 results using the Matlab GUI tool can be used for frequency management. Keywords : Scaling, fmin, foF2, frequency management
