Abstract
Radio over Fiber (RoF) is a hybrid technology that combines the thecnology of optical fiber with radio waves, with very high access speed. Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) is a data transmission technique with a carrier signal in multicarrier manually perpendicular. The performance of the RoF system depends on the optical modulator, bitrate, modulation to be used, power on the optical laser, fiber optic line. This last task is to advise a Radio over Fiber of Network model using OFDM multiplexing technique for 4-QAM mapping system. Researcher makes use of laser power variation starting from -8 up to 8 dBm. Optical Fiber that’s being used is the type of Step Index Single Mode with 1550 nm wavelength also 100 and 150 km range. The optical amplifier used is an Optical Amplifier with a power of 10 dBm. From the simulation result, it is found that model made has worked well. The radio over Fiber at a distance 100 km has good performance on 512, 1.024, 2.048, 4.096, 8.192 subcarrier because it gets a Bit Error Rate (BER) value of 0, which means that the data is sent flawlwssly without any errors. While at a distance of 150 km has good performance on the subcarrier 8192 which has a BER value of 0. Laser power is good at distance 100 km is -6 to 8 dBm because the BER obtained is 0 without any data errors. While for a distance of 150 3 – 8 dBm and get a BER value of 0. Keywords: Radio over Fiber, RoF, Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing, OFDM
