Abstract

Indonesia is the country with the fifth major smartphone users in the world. This research was conducted to find out the criteria the user when using a smartphone. Forward chaining methods are selected using the rule base and the principle of "IF-Then" search technique, which is performed by the method of forward chaining is used to know the criteria the user based on the result of the user's answers when answering questions from the system. On the method of forward chaining using three criteria and three cost ranges. The third criterion consists of the Hobby, Job, and Social Networking. Each criterion has four questions that should be answered by the user. Further research followed by using the method of Analytic Network Process. ANP method is used to give the order of ranking of the smartphone into the recommendations of each of the criteria. At the stage of testing the accuracy of the method of forward chaining the author analysis comparison with the criteria generated by testing methods of forward chaining with a smartphone that is currently in use by the user. Once done the analysis accuracy of figures obtained by 82%. Loss of accuracy as much as 18% are caused by many factors, one of which alternative data mismatch smartphone with smartphone used by users. This study implements both of these methods on the system web-based applications using the PHP programming language using the CodeIgneiter framework and a MySql database.
