Abstract

Along with the rapid development of technology, it is very helpful in completing human work so that work is easier and faster to complete. Electrical energy is the main energy needed by equipment or energy stored in electric currents and electric voltages. The DC power source has a very important role for the smooth operation of the substation it self, the DC power source is supplied by several batteries arranged in series. The battery at the substation serves to provide a power source to equipment at the substation such as relays, PMS and PMT motors, and telecommunications equipment. The DC system is in an operation of an electric power system that aims to control in a substation. The rectifier at the substation is used to convert the AC voltage from the PS transformer to the DC voltage that will enter the DC system. Batteries produce electrical energy by means of chemical processes. The battery is a combination of several cells or only one cell, each cell consisting of a positive electrode (+), negative electrode (-) and electrolyte. Monitoring the battery voltage when testing the battery capacity is passed to find out which battery cells have decreased quality or wear, The test results do not need to replace the battery because the final voltage is 84.18 vdc, the voltage is still above 80% if the voltage is above 80% then the battery condition in normal and if the voltage is below 80% then the battery condition is abnormal. The results of the battery capacity test were sampled every 15 minutes because the battery was given a sudden load resulting in a voltage drop which resulted in a voltage drop to 84.1 volts in 2 hours 48 minutes. Charging with the boost charger method charges fast because the voltage is used when charging is large, therefore every time charging the voltage will rise to 137.6 vdc in the 5th hour.
