Abstract

Fiber To The Home (FTTH) is a system that provides fiber optic network access where the conversion point is located at the customer's house. An optical conversion point is the end of a fiber optic network on the client side that functions as a conversion point for optical signals to electrical signals before they are accessed by various devices. The optical fiber communication network architecture used in FTTH is the Passive Optical Network (PON). PON is a point-to-multipoint network that has no active components other than the Central Office (CO) side and the customer / user side. In other words, optical signals are transmitted only through passive components, namely optical fibers, splices, and splitters / combiners. PON is the newest technology after Point-to-point fiber connection, where each client has a private optical fiber path to the CO, and Active Optical Network (AON), which is a network that requires an active component in the form of an electronic switch as an information channel. In this field work practice report, data collection on existing fiber optic and fiber networks using google earth has been carried out in the Teluk bayur area, Sumatera Barat. The results of the data obtained were carried out by survey, this survey aims to find out how much tissue capacitance is in the Teluk bayur area. Keywords: fiber to the home, passive optical network, active optical network, google earth, survey
