Abstract
Fire is something that should be avoided. Fires occur for many reasons, one of the causes is gas leakage from LPG cylinders. The cause of the explosion of the gas cylinder which also occurs due to leaks in the hose, tube or the regulator that is not installed properly. When a leak occurs, a stinging gas will be smelled, this is the gas that will explode after a fire or sparks or cigarette flames occur. The purpose of this research is to make a tool using a prototype method that can monitor home safety, gas leaks that can cause fires. This research uses several tools and materials such as nodemcu esp8266 as a microcontroller as well as a wi-fi module, the MQ5 sensor to read gas levels, a buzzer to sound an alarm when a leaky gas is detected, and an android application that uses codular and firebase tools as data receivers and transmitters. The performance of nodemcu esp8266 as a microcontroller and at the same time a wi-fi module is running well, but the sending of notifications for this tool is very connected to the network so that if there is a problem on the network, this system does not send notifications to the smartphone but the hardware. . The MQ5 sensor can read gas well 200ppm until 10000ppm. The buzzer works best when the MQ5 sensor handles the gas then the buzzer sounds according to the command. Performance software works just as well as hardware does. The firebase performance is good at displaying the date and gas content in accordance with the reality. On the performance of the Android application it handles well by sending notifications with the existing conditions, namely when there is a gas leaking the notification is written "Gas Leaks" and when there is no gas written notification "Gas is Safe". Keywords: Firebase, IoT, Kodular, Nodemcu Esp8266, MQ5 Sensor
