Abstract

Technological developments in the telecommunications industry affect lifestyle that develops in society. The desire for communication that was originally only in the form of voice and data services has developed into broadband or tripleplay services (voice, data and video). In this final project fiber to the home is implemented at Graha Permata Selabaya Housing because of its need for fast access such as wi-fi services for each home unit. The distance with OLT to the farthest ONT is only 4.53 km and the technology used is gigabit passive optical network (G-PON). Downstream calculations are carried out because the triple play service uses more downstream processes than uses upstream The wavelength used is downstream 1490 nm. The measurement parameters that will be considered are the power link budget, Bit Error rate, and Q-factor. Manually downstream link budget calculations, both the closest and farthest distance, obtained power values of - 18.8769 and -19,689 dBm, with power margins of 3.1231 and 2.311. From the simulation results obtained power values of -20.357 dBm and -21.7 dBm, BER values are 1.11074e - 123 and 5.06027e-94 and Q-factor values are 23.6228 and 20.5363. Judging from calculations and simulations, the value meets the ITU-TG. 984.2 standard. Keywords: FTTH, GPON, OLT, ODC, ONT, power link budget, BER, Q-factor
