Abstract
At this time for the needs of safety tools in humans are increasingly needed because of the development of technological developments that sometimes pay less attention to the safety of users because of the reason that the safety system is quite expensive. With the existence of a simple Arduino microcontroller such with GPS, the creativity to develop tools, many accidents that occur in the waters with victims who are found lifeless due to being found too long and adrift in open waters or go undetected. Therefore we need a tool or device that can be used to be able to quickly find the location of the victim in the case of an accident in the waters. So it is made a prototype of a safety device based on GPS-based smart life jacket compared to ordinary life jackets which are generally limited to buoys and flashing lights. Then the prototype of this GPS-based smart life jacket will have the advantage of sending location coordinates using the SIM808 GPRS / GSM GPS module which will then be sent via an Android app on a smartphone so that the sar team does not need to spin too far to look for whereabouts victim. Based on the results of the design and testing carried out on a prototype of a GPS-based smart life jacket, it is felt to be very helpful in finding victims more efficiently. However, this prototype can still be developed its range if later it will be applied directly to the victim so as to minimize victims lost in the waters. Keywords— Prototype, Smart Life Jacket,Arduino, GPS, GSM
