Abstract
Progress in the telecommunications sector, many companies in the field of communication slowly use Optical Fiber which initially uses copper cable. This is known as Fiber To The Home. Behind the development of optical fiber, the light that propagates on the optical fiber is deflected so that the network attenuation is large, the cause is the connection of the core is not good. To connect the core, Fusion Splicer is used. Connection aims to minimize attenuation. As well as having the benefit of getting the minimum attenuation so that the light energy propagates well. Data collection methods used by the practitioner method conducted at PT. Telkom Akses Purwokerto. Method of interviewing the supervisor by asking questions regarding fiber optic connection using fusion splicer. Literature study method by reading and understanding fiber optic connection material and using fusion splicer. The discussion method discusses how to connect fiber optics using fusion splicing. Fiber optic connection using fusion splicer includes setting up a fiber optic cable that is connected and fusion splicer, peeling the outer layer and in the fiber optic cable. Clean the core using tissue and alcohol, cut the core using optical fiber cleaver. Installing the core shield, placing the cable connected to the fusion splicer, attaching the shield to the connection. Next coat the connection protector using black insulation. Minimizing attenuation in connection using Fusion Splicer depends on the accuracy and cleanliness of the tools used and the cores connected. In this case attenuation becomes as minimal as possible. ensure the equipment used for connection conditions is clean. And make sure the core is in good condition.
