Abstract

Fiber To The Home (FTTH) is a network that distributes information from service providers to customers using optical fibre as an intercompany medium. This final study designed the FTTH network in Graha Permata Estate housing using Gigabit Passive Optical Network (GPON) technology. This design starts from STO (central Office) to go to the ONT (Optical Network Terminal) located in the customer and simulate the design using the 7.0 Optysystem to analyze performance seen based on the calculation of power Budget links, BER and Q-Factor. Based on the calculation of power link budget obtained the receiving power at the ONT of -20.063 dBm, as for the simulation of the received power obtained by -22.717 dBm. The value of the receiving power received in the simulation and the calculation meets ITU-T G. 984 standard i.e. maximum -28 dBm. For the results of the simulated and Q-Factor performance of the output, a 5, 48843e-015 for Max Q-Factor and 7.72725 is achieved for the BER. The Q-Factor and BER values meet the GPON standard which is a minimum of 10-9 for Q-Factor and a minimum of 6 for BER value. Keywords: FTTH, GPON, Power Link Budget, Bit Error Rate (BER), Q-Factor
