Abstract

Wireless communications that are growing rapidly lately have never been separated from the problems of fading, interference and noise. One technique to overcome this is to use a smart antenna system that is able to provide maximum gain in the right direction (beamforming) which is dependent on the user's position so that a parameter called Siganl to interference plus large noise radio (SINR) is obtained. The technique uses channels called Rotman Lens, Blass Matrix and Butler Matrix. Butler Matrix has the advantages of forming other file directions, because the butler matrix is simpler and requires less than 90o hybrid couplers which reduces the dimensions. In this task, a 4x4 Butler Matrix will be designed at the S-Band 2.93.1 Ghz working frequency to form output / output in phase that can be applied or painted on an antenna or radar that works on the same frequency. Keywords: Beamforming, Butler Matrix, Hybrid 90o, Smart Antenna
