Abstract

Companies in the telecommunications sector are slowly starting to choose to use optical fiber rather than using copper network cables. It aims to get the maximum in providing services. Optical fiber is a physical transmission media or delivery media made of glass fiber material, where the glass fiber is coated by an insulator and a protector which has the function to transmit data or information in the form of light waves. Optical fiber or optical fiber is made of dialect which consists of a core material in the form of glass (glass) and a protective layer in the form of plastic. Housing Permata Residance has 50 homepass units with a size of 6 x 7.5 meters, located near the center of Pekalongan Regency, including in the highlands when compared to the surrounding area and is an active area with various activities, and near government offices, many shops- the shop around the Permata Residance housing. Fiber To The Home network design is carried out at Permata Residence Housing using Gigabit Passive Optocal Network (GPON) technology. Data collection calculations and simulations are carried out on ten ONT points from different ODP. The value of receiving power in both the calculation and simulation results are different, but the difference is not too large, it only has a difference of around -3 dBm. The link budget calculation is found to be -19.5859 dBm, for a standard from ITU-T a maximum of -28 dBm. The Bit Error Rate (BER) obtained from the simulation is 1,57421e-135 (1,57421 x 10-135) where the maximum value ITU-T standard is 10-9 which means it still meets the good criteria. Furthermore, for the results of the Q Factor obtained is 26,3682, where the ITU-T standard is > 6 which means that the obtained Q Factor value is good.
