Abstract

At this time the development of technology is growing rapidly and has created a variety of telecommunications technologies and is able to provide services that aim to facilitate human life of communication needs. The need for communication requires everyone to have their own devices. This results in the increasing need for IP (Internet Protocol) addresses in the network. Currently the IP that is used is IPv4, because the increasing number of IP Address needs IPv4 addresses are getting thinner. From this problem came a new idea regarding IPv6 addressing. The use of IPv6 requires modifications in the Internet infrastructure causing the implementation of IPv6 has not been fully realized. In order for network devices that are still using IPv4 to be connected to network devices that use IPv6, tunneling methods are needed. In this final project a comparison is made between two Tunneling methods, namely ISATAP (Intra-site Automatic Tunnel Addressing Protocol) and GRE (Generic Routing Encapsulation). This thesis aims to compare QoS (Quality of Service) performance such as delay, packet loss and throughput to both tunneling types (GRE and ISATAP). For performance testing, the client-server scenario method is used and for testing services are file sharing and video streaming. Packet loss in ISATAP tunneling video streaming services has better performance compared to the GRE. At 720p resolution, GRE packet loss is 1.23% and ISATAP is 0.89%. Video streaming throughput with 720p resolution, ISATAP tunneling has a value of 3,002 Mbps and GRE worth 2,963 Mbps. File sharing throughput is 25 MB in data size, GRE tunnelling is 8.35 Mbps and ISATAP is 7.68 Mbps. Video streaming delay for 720p resolution at ISATAP tunneling is 3.73 ms and GRE is 3.75. File sharing delays for 25 MB of data size in ISATAP tuning at 0.94 ms and GRE at 1.18 ms. From the results of the parameters of throughput, delay and packet loss shows that the ISATAP network configuration has a performance value that is more than the performance value of the GRE network configuration.
