Abstract

Wifi (wireless fidelity) is a wireless connection (wireless connection) or connections between devices without the use of physical media such as cable but uses radio waves. The decline in performance in wireless networking often occurs, so to do optimizations to get the number of the access point and its placement can be applied correctly. The placement and number of access points that are less precise is the cause of less the maximum quality of wifi. Calculation of capacity and coverage area users to get the right amount of access point is the best way in the design. Simulation using software RPS v 5.4 2.4 GHz frequency and propagation models COST 231 Multiwall. Simulation of AP is done to get the RSL (signal strength) and SIR (signal quality). The placement of the access Point is done with three scenarios, including the scenario 1 (front), scenario 2 (middle), scenario 3 (zig-zag). Before doing the calculation the amount of AP bypassing existing AP data simulation against building IOT. Existing data as a reference point to do the design on the new building. The results of the simulation are existing RSL-31.95 dBm and SIR 5.35 dB. From the results of a calculation based on the coverage area obtained the number of access points as much as 21 AP and based on user capacity by as much as 35 AP. From the results of the simulation based on coverage area then obtained the value of RSL-38.62 dBm and SIR 12.44 dB. User capacity is based on the value of RSL-36.60 dBm and SIR 6.70 dB. AP placement scenario best of both methods is the scenario 2, i.e. the placement of AP in the middle of the room. Keywords: Wi-Fi, coverage area, capacity of users, RPS, COST 231 Multiwall
