Abstract
Radio over Fiber (RoF) technology is the process of sending radio signals using fiber optic cables as an intermediary medium. Radio over Fiber systems have high efficiency, wide coverage, large capacity, and high data transmission rates. RoF transmission is possible to increase the number of channels to be doubled or up to four times using optical interleaver devices. This device allows the implementation of the Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) system that separates or combines two channel wavelengths. The optical interleaver mechanism allows multiplexing radio signals in optical domains not in the electrical domains. In RoF with relatively remote communications, susceptibility to relatively high Bit Error Rate (BER) and attenuation, an optical amplifier is capable of amplifying signals at relatively long distances, such as the Erbium Doped Fiber Amplifier (EDFA) amplifier. EDFA is one of the amplifiers that allows direct gain on optical signals. Network planning on simulation software Optisystem 15.1 can display network performance based on Bit Error Rate (BER) and QFactor parameters. The best BER value of this research is at 8 dBm input power with 40 km of fiber length at 15 GHz frequency for Min BER value of 2.80E-71 and the best QFactor value in this research is at 8 dBm input power with fiber length 40 km at a frequency of 15 GHz for a value of Q-Factor of 17.8112.
