Abstract
Cellular telecommunications technology is developing rapidly, especially the fifth generation (5G), which will be launched in 2020. Frequencies that are expected to be strong at 5G are at frequencies above 6 GHz, at 28 GHz. This frequency presents new challenges to the influence of climate parameters such as temperature, humidity, and air pressure on wave propagation. Yogyakarta city parameters are taken to be represented in the form of power delay profile (PDP) values obtained from simulations using the statistical spatial channel model (SSCM) technique applied in the NYUSIM channel simulator. The PDP is used to calculate the outage probability that indicates a detection failure on the receiver based on the Shannon anchor value of the channel capacity (C) which is smaller than the code rate (R). Outage probability is obtained by cumulative distribution function of the capacity evaluated against the code rate. The results in this study are a comparison of the 5G channel model and the outage probability of 10-4 and Eb/N0 of 0 - 30 dB, with a minimum air humidity effect of 51,2% and a maximum air humidity effect of 97%, then Eb/N0 needed in a row for the code rate (R) R = ½ of 17,57 dB and 17,46 dB, for R = ¾ of 19,85 dB and 19,86 dB, for R = 1 of 22,13 dB and 22,09 dB. It can be concluded that conditions with the effect of air humidity can reduce the performance of the communication system at 5G even though it is not significant. Keywords: Outage probability, channel model, power delay profile, humidity effect
