Abstract

ABSTRACT The development of information and its need are getting increased. Every user needs high speed, short and accurate infoemation. Thus a supportive means, a fast and stable internet connection is need. Safety factors that often become a problem and must be considered. VPN (Virtual Private Network) is created to handle problems on an insecure network, obtain data information and exchange data safely and stably. This study analyzes VPN network by using PPTP (Point to Point Tunneling Protocol). PPTP is a network protocol that allows security of transferring data from remote access to the server by creating a VPN via TCP / IP. This study aims to analyze the Quality of Service performance in the form of delay, throughput and packet loss. Performance testing uses the client-server method and the service that is used video on demand. Delay is obtained by using 240p video resolution of 241.94 ms, 360p of 249.4 ms, 480p of 245.96 ms, 720p of 234.47 ms and 1080p of 235.18 ms. Delay obtained is still in the range of values categorized as good because it is still below 300 ms. Throughput is obtained by using 240p video resolution of 3.18 Kbps, 360p at 3.09 Kbps, 480p at 3.13 Kbps, 720p at 3.28 Kbps and 1080p at 3.27 Kbps. The obtained throughput included in the range of values is very good because it is above 100 bps. The packet loss obtained using 240p video resolution is 0.44%, 360p is 0.33%, 480p is 0.23%, 720p is 0.19% and 1080p is 0.38%. The packet loss obtained is included in the range of values categorized as very good because it is still below 1%. Keywords: VPN, PPTP, Delay, Throughput, Packet Loss.
