Abstract
ABSTRACT 5G New Radio (NR) which will be released in 2020 supports various uses of scenarios and applications that include enhanced mobile broadband (eMBB), ultra-reliable and low latency communications (URLLC), and massive machine type communications (mMTC). It considers the potential of 28 GHz millimeterwave frequency which is capable of meeting broad bandwidth requirements and data rates of up to multi Gbps. The mmave frequency which is sensitive to natural conditions, especially Indonesia is a tropical region that has high rainfall, it is necessary to know the characteristics of the 28 GHz channel in the city of Jakarta. The 5G channel characteristics are represented in the Power Delay Profile (PDP) based on the simulation results using the NYUSIM channel simulator. The PDP is used to calculate outage probability, which is the probability of channel capacity smaller than the code rate (R) so that it indicates failure of detection on the receiver based on Shannon's theory. Ouatge Probability is obtained by the cummulative distribution function of the capacity evaluated on the code rate. In this paper, it shows a comparison of 5G channel models and outage probability of 10-3 with rainfall effects of 150 mm / h and without rainfall effects (0 mm / h) then Eb / N0 needed 10.21 dB and 10.14 dB respectively. for R = 1/2, 10.8 dB and 10.78 dB for R = ¾, 11.34 dB and 11.33 dB for R = 1. This shows that rainfall reduces the communication system performance in 5G NR. Keywords : Channel model, 5G NR, 28 GHz, Shannon capacity, outage probability, rainfall.
