Abstract

ABSTRACT The OFDM-RoF system research at a large 40 Gbps bit rate can be used to increase bandwidth requirements and high bitrate, and quality fiber optic communication. This system can work at low input power and a considerable distance with the addition of Dithering Technique that is implemented. Radio over Fiber is a transmission system for transmitting radio signals using fiber optic cables. The use of Dithering Technique will overcome the nonlinear effects produced and also the use of optical fiber length, which will affect the results during the transmission process, Nonlinearity will be found on the roof system, which is Stimulated Brillouin Scattering (SBS) which will inhibit the data transmission process with the dithering technique system method that is expected to overcome it by presenting a high bit rate. The OFDMRoF system research carried out data retrieval based on the results of the output signal spectrum, constellation diagram, and on the receiving power. Tests were carried out in the Optysystem 15.0 software by using input power variations of -8 dBm, -4 dBm, 0 dBm, 4 dBm, 8 dBm with variations in the distance of optical fiber along 10 km, 50 km and 100 km and use dithering technique. The results of the testing with each power of -8 dBm distance of 10 km fiber with Dithering Technique yields a receiving power of 16.448 dBm, at a distance of 50 km produces a receiving power of 8.482 dBm, then at a distance of 100 km produces a power of -1.518 dBm, when not using the Dithering Technique a decrease in input power of -8 dBm at a distance of 10 km produces an output power of 3.546 dBm, a distance of 50 km -4.454 dBm, a distance of 100 km -5,442 dBm, thus the OFDM-RoF system produces good reception power when using the Dithering Technique, and the optical fiber long distance that is not too far away.
