Abstract
ABSTRACT The current increase in internet users but has not been balanced with available bandwidth management is an obstacle when users access the internet. Bandwidth usage on a network is often not optimally utilized, therefore bandwidth management is required by using the Hierarchical Token Bucket (HTB) method. Proper allocation of a bandwidth can be one method of providing quality for a network. Virtual LAN is a technology that divides networks into smaller groups of broadcast domains thereby reducing packet traffic that is not needed on the network. By applying the Hierarchical Token Bucket method to the vlan network, it is expected to maintain performance for internet network performance. To test the quality of performance, an objective measurement of the quality of the internet network is carried out, testing using the microtic routerboard with the HTB method and the QoS parameters used in the measurement include jitter, delay, packet loss and throughput. From each parameter, a test will be carried out in accordance with the testing scenario and 3 minutes of observation will be carried out on each network vlan. The results of the test in scenario 5 get throughput for vlan id 10 of 1034.55 kbps, for vlan id 20 at 797.05 kbps, for vlan id 30 at 135.60 kbps and for vlan id 40 at 134.39 kbps. Based on the QoS calculation and analysis, it is found that the HTB (Hierarchical Token Buckt) method is able to maximize unused bandwidth when the client is in a small number of conditions while the client is in crowded bandwidth conditions can be maintained with a minimum bandwidth on Committed information rates (CIR) and even distribution of bandwidth in accordance with the rule priority.
