Abstract

ABSTRACT The development of technology is increasingly diverse. So also with the development of technology for satellite communications. In the satellite communication technology, one important tool is the transponder. Each satellite transponder has its own capacity to transmit data communications. The capacity of satellite transponders have a limited amount of bandwidth and power usage. So as to find the optimal conditions can be done with a link budget calculation in terms of both bandwidth and power. Modulation and FEC value system used will determine the bandwidth on the link, while the power to determine the form of the diameter of the antenna, the frequency used and the transmit power. So the selection of these parameters can make satellite transponder capacity would be optimal. From the results of the link budget calculation, the optimal modulation on the delivery link from Bogor - Bima is the QPSK modulation on both satellites. In the telecoms 3s satellites of 5760 KHz bandwidth values and C / N value of his total of 12.18 dB. while telecoms 2 satellite bandwidth and power on a value of 5760 KHz and 10.93 dB. However, if the terms of Eb / No, Eb / No using telecom satellites 3s of 13.76 dB superior than the magnitude of the satellite telecoms 2 12.51 dB. With Eb / No value 13.76 dB then the link can meet the expected BER. Based on the calculation results for the both satellite transponder capacity indicates the state of the limited bandwidth. so the use of transponder capacity would be optimal if using communication links in terms of bandwidth.
